Congressman Ciscomani Votes in Support of Transformative Housing Bill to Lower Costs for Arizona Families

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Juan Ciscomani this week voted for legislation to make it easier for Arizonans to achieve the American Dream of owning a home.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act passed with vast bipartisan support and is aimed at reducing excessive and burdensome regulations that have increased construction costs and made homeownership more difficult for working Arizonans.

Following the 396-13 vote, the congressman released the following statement on his X account:

"Owning your own home is a big part of the American Dream! I grew up with my family renting, and I'll never forget when my parents bought their first home, where they still live today, the summer after I graduated from college.

The American Dream has always been rooted in the opportunity to own a home, raise a family, and build a brighter future. But today, that dream is further out of reach for too many Americans. A limited housing supply has created an increasingly competitive and unfair market for hardworking families trying to purchase their first home or find attainable housing in their communities.

That's why today's passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is so important. It takes real, meaningful steps to cut excessive barriers, expand housing opportunities, and help working families achieve the dream of homeownership. Congress has a responsibility to keep the American Dream available and today was an important step in that mission."

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act includes provisions designed to:

  • Reduce burdensome federal regulations that increase housing costs;
  • Expand housing supply and affordability;
  • Encourage new home construction and development;
  • Support workforce and rural housing initiatives;
  • Increase access to homeownership for working and middle-class families;
  • Address institutional investment practices impacting housing markets.
