Acting Chinese Consul General in Auckland Wang Junchao Attends “Embrace China-Beautiful Sichuan, Gathering in Auckland: Mid-Autumn Festival Gala”

On 17 September,Acting Consul General Wang Junchao attended and addressed the "Embrace China-Beautiful Sichuan,Gathering in Auckland: Mid-Autumn Festival Gala." Nearly 1,000 people attended,including Director of the Friendship and Liaison Department of the Sichuan Provincial Returned Overseas Chinese Federation Yu Jiangyu,former Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand Carmel Sepuloni,former Member of Parliament Naisi Chen,Vice President of the New Zealand China Friendship Society Sharon Fraser,overseas Chinese compatriots and friends from various sectors in the consular district. Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Louise Upston and Member of Parliament Nancy Lu delivered a video address.

Wang said that the Mid-Autumn Festival carries profound cultural connotations of reunion,harmony,and remembrance of home, and embodies the love for family and country cherished by Chinese people at home and abroad. The Chinese Consulate-General in Auckland will, as always, uphold the principle of serving the people through diplomacy, promote bilateral cultural exchanges and people-to-people connectivity, and further consolidate the public foundation of China-New Zealand friendship.

Artists from the Sichuan Provincial Sichuan Opera Theatre joined local art groups on the same stage.The program featured brilliant performances including Sichuan Opera, magic, group face-changing, Māori song and dance, and Chinese and Western instrumental ensembles, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
