Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Liu Yantao Attends Medal Award Ceremony for UNFICYP Peacekeeping Police

On 24 October2025, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Liu Yantao attended the medal award ceremony for peacekeeping police officers of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). More than 100 guests participated in the event, including Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNFICYP Mr. Khassim Dagne, UNFICYP Force Commander Mr. Erdenebat Batsuuri, Acting Senior Police Adviser Mr. Mohammad Shabsough, and diplomats from various countries. Counsellor Chen Chunhui attended the ceremony as well.

In their remarks, Mr.Dagne and Mr. Shabsough expressed appreciation to the policecontributing countries for their important role in promoting the peace process in Cyprus. They also awarded the United Nations Medal for Peace to 12 peacekeeping police officers from six countries.

Ambassador Liu congratulated the two Chinese peacekeeping police officers who received the medals, commending the Chinese police contingent for their perseverance and dedication in fulfilling their duties. He encouraged the officers to continue contributing their wisdom and strength to UN peacekeeping missions and to demonstrate the professionalism and confidence of Chinese police officers on the international stage.
