Topeka, Kan. - It's never too early to be an Ichabod! Young Topekans, and those from surrounding communities, can spend time celebrating the power of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) this July. The focus of this camp is to inspire curiosity, innovation and discovery while empowering future generations to solve tomorrow's challenges.
For the past nine years, Washburn University's Education Department has hosted this camp for students entering 7th or 8th grade. This year, the university will offer the full-day camp (lunch and snacks provided daily) at no cost to participants the week of July 6 - 10 or July 13 - 17, 2026 on the Washburn campus. Visit washburn.edu/about/community/children.html for more information. Completed applications are due by May 29, 2026. For questions, contact Dr. Cherry Steffen, Education Department chair and professor, Washburn University, at [email protected] or 785-670-1943.
For children with other interests, Washburn has opportunities available this summer in the areas of art, athletics, career exploration and music. Learn more about all the camps being offered at washburn.edu/about/community/children.html.
