Lanes narrow to a 10-foot width between S. Peoria Street and S. Potomac Street
City of Centennial & Arapahoe County - The City of Centennial will implement a long-term traffic shift on E. Arapahoe Road between S. Revere Parkway and S. Potomac Street overnight on Sunday, May 31. As construction continues on the Lone Tree Creek Trail underpass along the north side of the roadway, traffic lanes on E. Arapahoe Road will shift to the south.
Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts as the new lane configurations are set. After the lane shifts have been implemented, they will remain in place for several months.
Traffic Impacts:
-
Work will take place during both nighttime and daytime hours in the coming week.
-
Nighttime hours will take place from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday night through Tuesday night.
-
Daytime hours will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday.
-
During nighttime hours, motorists can expect alternating single and double-lane closures in each direction on E. Arapahoe Road between S. Peoria Street and S. Potomac Street. At least one through-lane of travel will remain open at all times.
-
Starting Sunday night, May 31, and continuing for the duration of the project, all left-turn movements at the intersection of E. Arapahoe Road and S. Revere Parkway will be restricted. Motorists will not be able to travel straight on S. Revere Parkway across E. Arapahoe Road. Only right-turn movements will be permitted. Motorists are encouraged to use S. Peoria Street or S. Potomac Street as alternate travel routes.
-
During daytime hours, a single-lane closure will be in place on westbound E. Arapahoe Road while the project team finishes setting the permanent traffic shift.
-
Three lanes of traffic will remain open in both directions of E. Arapahoe Road during peak travel hours.
-
With the new traffic configuration, lanes will be narrowed to 10-feet.
-
The speed limit within the construction zone will be reduced to 45 MPH.
-
All trail access remains open at this time. Pedestrians, cyclists and visitors to Centennial Center Park are asked to stay a safe distance from active work areas.
-
No bus route interruptions are expected at this time. Riders are encouraged to check the RTD website for updated schedules or bus stop changes.
