In partnership with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the Kansas Health Institute (KHI) will manage the Technical Assistance (TA) Hub for organizations applying for and receiving funding through the Kansas Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).

The Hub serves as a clearinghouse for technical assistance. Submit a question, and we'll connect you with the KHI staff member or partner best suited to help.

Technical assistance is designed to help applicants strengthen their understanding of program requirements, work through questions and develop stronger application materials. Engaging with the TA Hub does not ensure or imply that a proposal will be selected for funding. KDHE makes all final funding determinations.

Three Ways to Get Help

Individual TA

Submit a request through the online TA request form, and we'll match you with the appropriate KHI staff member or partner technical assistance provider.

Office Hours

Join weekly office hours to bring your questions and hear answers to questions other applicants are asking. Registration opens Oct. 9.

Resources and Tools

Access FAQs, templates and guides developed in response to questions from applicants. New resources will be shared as they become available.

How a Technical Assistance Request Works

1

Submit

Send your question through the TA request form.

2

Review

KHI reviews your request and follows up with an expected response time.

3

Route

Your question goes to the KHI staff member or partner best suited to help.

4

Assist

You receive guidance electronically or through a virtual meeting.

5

Resolve

The request is closed when resolved. You can submit new questions anytime.

Support From Application Through the Grant Period

Applying for Funding

During the application phase, the Hub can provide assistance with:

  • Eligibility and program requirements
  • Understanding the Request for Applications (RFA)
  • Project design, budgets and sustainability plans
  • Review of draft application materials
  • Weekly office hours

Managing Your Award

Following an award, technical assistance can include:

  • Onboarding
  • Understanding reporting requirements
  • Documenting progress and outcomes
  • Office hours at a pace that fits the grant cycle

What the Hub Can - and Can't - Do

KHI and its partners will provide guidance and feedback to help applicants and grantees succeed. KHI and its partner TA providers do not write applications or make eligibility, compliance, policy or funding determinations.

The Hub can help you:

The Hub does not:

  • Understand eligibility criteria and program requirements
  • Understand the RFA and its required components
  • Think through project design and feasibility
  • Work through budgets and budget narratives
  • Review draft materials for completeness and alignment
  • Navigate required registrations, including Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) and Statewide Management, Accounting and Reporting Tool (SMART) Vendor ID
  • Write applications or narratives
  • Make eligibility or compliance determinations
  • Make policy or funding decisions

Questions outside the Hub's role will be routed to KDHE, as appropriate.
