"As representatives of the pulp and paper industry, we extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this week's tragedy in Longview. In particular, our hearts go out to the families of those who were lost, as well as to those who were injured. We also share our support for the mill workers and AWPPW union members impacted by this tragedy. We join in solidarity with the entire Longview community, which has lovingly rallied around all those affected during this difficult time.

Finally, we also thank local first responders, particularly Longview Fire and Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue, for their thorough and professional efforts in the rescue and recovery mission. Their work will provide the foundation for the detailed investigation that is needed to understand this tragic event. Safety is a core value across our industry. We support efforts to fully understand the root cause of this incident and identify measures that can help prevent similar tragedies in the future."
