SGMC Health Welcomes Family and Sports Medicine Physician Bennett Hogan, MD

SGMC Health is pleased to welcome Ben Hogan, MD, a distinguished community physician with over two decades of expertise in family and sports medicine, to its Physician Network. Dr. Hogan's practice, now operating as SGMC Family and Sports Medicine, is located at 117 W Northside Drive in Valdosta.

A native of Valdosta, Dr. Hogan was committed to returning home to take care of those who took care of him. Since opening in 2001, Dr. Hogan's practice has been dedicated to providing comprehensive primary and preventative care to patients of all ages. With a patient-centered and results-oriented approach, Dr. Hogan brings a wealth of experience in managing chronic conditions, promoting wellness, and enhancing athletic performance. His care encompasses the management of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, and depression, as well as offering complete physical exams tailored to individuals at various stages of life.

As a board-certified family physician and recognized expert in sports medicine, Dr. Hogan has spent years supporting athletes of all levels. His services include treatment for musculoskeletal injuries, injury prevention, and medical management of athlete-specific conditions like exercise-induced asthma. Dr. Hogan has also served as the team physician for Valdosta City Schools and Valdosta State University Athletics since 2001, further solidifying his commitment to the local community and its athletes.

Dr. Hogan earned his medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine with a special interest in sports medicine at the University of Alabama. He is a proud member of the American College of Sports Medicine and collaborates closely with leading surgical and orthopedic colleagues across the Southeast when advanced care is needed.

Dr. Hogan grew up as a Valdosta Wildcat and played football at the University of South Carolina, where he met his wife, Leigh Ann. They have two children, Haley and Pate. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, flying airplanes, triathlons, golf, mountain biking, playing guitar, or any sport.
