Targeting of import controls and public access to control data

Targeting of import controls and public access to control data

8.4.2026

Question for written answer E-001413/2026
to the Commission
Rule 144
Alexander Bernhuber (PPE)

According to the Alert and Cooperation Network's 2024 Annual Report, 84 % of notified fruit and vegetable imports originated from non-EU countries - primarily Türkiye, Egypt, India and China. At the same time, the Commission acknowledges that Member States report their control data in inconsistent formats.

  • 1.To which specific countries of origin and product categories has the announced 50 % increase in non-EU audits been allocated, and what is the planned number of audits per country?
  • 2.What binding measures does the Commission plan to take to ensure that all 27 Member States report the total number of controls, inspection rates and outcomes in a standardised format, and by when?
  • 3.Given that high-risk products from specific non-EU countries are subject to increased physical checks under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, can the Commission confirm that these prescribed check frequencies were actually met by all Member States from 2023 to 2025, and if not, which Member States fell short and for which product-country combinations?
