Continuous Closure of South Street Bridge Over I-84 in Middlebury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a continuous closure of the South Street Bridge over I-84 in Middlebury. This project is scheduled to start on Monday, March 2, 2026, and be completed on Friday, September 10, 2027. Project 0080-0132 consists of Structural Repairs and Bridge Deck Replacement.
CTDOT Project 0080-0132 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $9,606,309.55 on 12/29/2025 and is scheduled to be completed on 9/10/2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction,
District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
The South Street Bridge over I-84 in Middlebury will be closed to all traffic starting
Monday, March 2, 2026, to Friday, September 10, 2027. Traffic signage will guide motorists through the detour.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may occur due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
