Reed, Amo Meet with Builders of Rhode Island’s Future to Celebrate Passage of Cost-Lowering 21st Century Road to Housing Act

Central Falls, RI - TODAY, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI-01) toured the RI Builders residential construction training program in Central Falls and hosted a press conference to highlight the passage of the 21st Century Road to Housing Act, a new law that cuts through red tape, places restrictions on private equity firms buying single family homes, helps communities build new housing, and provides assistance to homeowners to repair their homes.
Throughout his Fighting for an Affordable America stops, Congressman Amo has met with Rhode Islanders from all walks of life to discuss how he's fighting in Congress to lower costs on everyday essentials like housing, gas, groceries, and health care.

Congressman Amo and Senator Reed both voted in favor of the bipartisan, bicameral 21st Century Road to Housing Act. The bill passed both the House and the Senate on bipartisan votes. President Trump refused to sign it into law, but the bill had such overwhelming support that it became law anyway. This legislation also includes landmark federal restrictions to stop private equity firms and large institutions from mass-purchasing single-family homes.
