UW Trombone Company to Present Concert Nov. 13

The University of Wyoming Trombone Company will present its fall concert Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

The performance, directed by Daniel Watt, will showcase the versatility of the trombone ensemble, featuring works spanning classical, contemporary and popular genres. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program opens with the vibrant contemporary work "Apogee Fanfare" by Chris Sharpe, followed by an arrangement of the "Largo" from Dvořák's "New World Symphony," directed by graduate student Marlon Rissatto.

The concert continues with a dynamic arrangement of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida." Smaller ensembles within the company will be highlighted in selections from Georg Philipp Telemann and Joseph Bodin de Boismortier.

A three-part arrangement of "Steak and Kidney Supper" by Brian Lynn offers a lighthearted contrast before the full ensemble returns with powerful selections from the symphonic repertoire, including a transcription of Anton Bruckner's "Christus factus est" and a special arrangement of Wagner for five trombones. The evening culminates with a dynamic medley of themes from John Williams' iconic "Star Wars" scores arranged by Jeremy Van Hoy.
