At about 11 p.m. on Aug. 31, Columbia Police responded to an alarm for an ATM in the 3400 block of Buttonwood Drive. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect from his vehicle in the ATM drive-thru.
The suspect was identified as Carlos Eduardo Hernandez-Moreno, 21, of Brighton, Colorado. He was found with other large amounts of cash, various running laptops and other computer equipment. Hernandez-Moreno's vehicle, its contents and the cash were seized as evidence.
Hernandez-Moreno was arrested for felony first-degree property damage and felony stealing. He is also being held on an immigration detainer at the Boone County Jail. It is believed that he is likely part of a criminal organization committing similar crimes across the nation.
