======================================

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 2:08 p.m., State Police members responded to County Route 49 in the town of Stockholm for a possible snowmobile operator who fell through the ice. Troopers arrived on the scene of the St. Regis River, near the County Route 49 bridge, and observed snowmobile tracks on the ice which led to open water. A red 2020 snowmobile was located at the bottom of the river near the north shoulder of the bridge. Local dive teams from Parishville, Akwesasne, and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene to help search for the operator of the snowmobile. Parishville Fire Department deployed a drone into the water to search for the victim. Due to the fast flow of the current and the loss of daylight, the search was suspended until this morning.

On today's date, January 15, 2025, the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) responded to St. Regis River to continue search efforts for the victim.

This is an ongoing investigation.
