Charlotte County Celebrates New Affordable Housing for Veterans

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (April 8, 2026) - Charlotte County is proud to support the development of The Villas at Scott Street, a new affordable housing project by PORCH (Peace River Community Housing Partners) dedicated to serving local veterans.

The project includes three affordable housing villas designed to provide safe, stable housing for extremely low-income veterans in need. This initiative reflects Charlotte County's ongoing commitment to expanding access to affordable housing and supporting those who have served our country.

Funding for the development was made possible through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program, Hurricane Housing Recovery program, Charlotte HOME, as well as the City of Punta Gorda and private funding sources. This collaborative effort highlights the importance of partnerships between nonprofit organizations, and local government in addressing housing needs and supporting low-income veterans.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the completion of the villas at 8:30 a.m., April 16 at 6296 Scott St., Port Charlotte, FL. Community members, partners, and stakeholders are invited to attend and celebrate this important milestone.
