M. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with his counterpart Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, at the Quai d'Orsay on Monday 20 January 2025.
During their fruitful and friendly discussions, the two ministers welcomed the excellent Franco-Ivorian bilateral partnership. They hailed the strength of bilateral trade and reviewed the mutually-supportive investment projects being implemented by the French Development Agency. They praised the dynamism of cultural, museum and heritage links, two months after the process of returning the Djidji Ayokwé talking drum was begun.
They shared their analyses of the political and economic situation in West Africa and the prospects for, and challenges of, regional integration.
Finally, the ministers discussed the imminent return to Côte d'Ivoire of Port-Bouët camp, in line with the trustful dialogue conducted with Côte d'Ivoire in recent months and under the reshaping of our defence partnerships in Africa. This return paves the way for new forms of security and defence cooperation with our Ivorian partners.
