One of Cambridge's signature summer celebrations returns Friday, June 26, as the City of Cambridge and the Central Square Business Improvement District present the 26th Annual Cambridge Dance Party in front of Cambridge City Hall. This year's theme, "The World Dances Here," honors the region's role in hosting seven World Cup matches and invites everyone to join a global celebration of music, community, and culture.
Festivities will begin at 3 p.m. with a World Cup watch party on Temple Street in Central Square, featuring Norway versus France on a large outdoor screen, along with family friendly activities and face painting.
At 4 p.m., the Dance Party kicks off at City Hall with a high energy jam session and conga line ready set led by local favorite DJ P.A.C. that is specifically designed for older adults and young families.
The evening then elevates with two regionally and internationally-known DJs starting at 6 p.m.:
For The World Dances Here, the DJs will bring their signature open-format mixing style, deep knowledge of classic R&B, soul, and hip-hop, and unmatched abilities to read and respond to the crowd.
What to Expect:
Thousands are once again expected to come together for one of Cambridge's most beloved outdoor traditions.
Organized by the City Manager's Office, Cambridge Arts, and the Central Square BID - with support from various City departments - the event is steps from the Red Line in Central Square and will be held rain or shine.
