Tanya Saadé Zeenny alongside Lebanon's First Lady Nehmat Aoun for the launch of the “School of Citizenship” program

Mrs. Nehmat Aoun, First Lady of the Republic of Lebanon, unveiled at the Presidential Palace in Baabda the project "School of Citizenship" in the presence of Mrs. Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation.

The ceremony gathered a large number of distinguished guests from academic, political, diplomatic, and media circles, including ministers, members of parliament, presidential advisors, ambassadors, representatives of United Nations agencies, and educational institutions such as the Minister of Education, Dr. Rima Karame; Dr. Fadlo Khuri, President of the American University of Beirut; Dr. Maysoun Chehab, UNESCO's Chief of Education Section and Senior Education Specialist for the Arab Region; and the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro.

Driven by the First Lady of Lebanon, this innovative project aims to integrate active citizenship throughout the Lebanese educational system by establishing a structured, inclusive, and sustainable framework.

Its objective is to shape a new generation of responsible, compassionate, and hopeful citizens - capable of guiding the country with conviction, humanism, and vision.

Developed in partnership with UNESCO and the Educational Center for Research and Development (CRDP), the project is based on a unified school framework and training sessions delivered through CRDP centers, the technical arm of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE).

Public and private schools will be supported by an index and a citizenship certification - a diagnostic tool inspired by international standards to assess the civic vitality of schools - in addition to teacher training programs designed to strengthen their skills.

In her speech at the Presidential Palace, Mrs. Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, stated,"Nothing strengthens a nation more than educating its youth - it's what turns promise into progress and hope into reality. This project, launched today by the First Lady, comes at a pivotal moment, offering a nationwide platform to foster civic education and transform schools into hubs of citizenship. Our CMA CGM Foundation is proud to take part of this initiative, which will empower young Lebanese students to build a brighter future for our country."

Through this partnership, the CMA CGM Foundation continues its mission with the same conviction: to promote access to education, encourage solidarity, and nurture hope for a better tomorrow.

True to its founding values, it will keep supporting projects that contribute to Lebanon's social, educational, and civic reconstruction - a Lebanon turned toward the future, driven by its youth, and animated by the will to rise again.
