Salem Police Investigate Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash

SALEM, Ore. - On August 3, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers arrested Tristen Glen Wilson, 28, of Salem, following a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the 400 block of 17th Street NE.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims: a 45-year-old man, of Salem, who remained on scene with minor injuries, and a 32-year-old woman, of Salem, who was transported to the Salem Hospital with significant injuries.

Witnesses told officers the victims were on the sidewalk when they were hit by the involved vehicle. The vehicle reportedly did not stop and continued driving away from the scene. Officers searched the area and located the vehicle and driver a few blocks from the scene. Wilson was arrested for multiple offenses related to the incident, including:

• Assault in the Second Degree
• Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants
• Reckless Driving
• Driving While Suspended- Revoked Misdemeanor, and
• Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver to Injured Persons

Salem Police Traffic Team investigators were consulted during the investigation.

At this time, the woman is still being treated for her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and further inquiries should be directed to the Marion County District Attorney's Office.
