(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at approximately 3:19 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 100 block of SW Water Street on a report of a female shot.
When officers arrived, they located an adult female (18 years old) with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Members of the Peoria Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
All persons believed to be involved with this shooting are in police custody, and Peoria Police are not looking for any other persons at this time.
This incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE 6-5-25
During the course of this investigation, Peoria Detectives identified 19-year-old Deziaah Z. Hunter as a suspect in this case.
On June 4, 2025, Hunter was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery and Reckless Conduct.
Hunter was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This investigation remains ongoing.
