NEWTourism activity of travel and tour operator agencies in January-September 2025

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-September 2025, the number of visitors (tourists and excursionists), participants in tourism organized by travel and tour operator agencies totaled 480.7 thousand people (6.5% more than in the period January-September 2024), of which:

• inbound tourism (the total number of activities of a non-resident visitor in the visited country as part of an inbound tourist trip) recorded 65.8 thousand people (+28.8% compared to January-September 2024);
• outbound tourism (travel of residents of a country outside its borders for tourism purposesfor more than 24 hours) - 336.5 thousand people (+0.3%);
• domestic tourism (travel of residents of the Republic of Moldova within the country for tourism purposes) - 78.4 thousand people (+21.2%).

During the analyzed period, outbound tourism held the largest share - 70.0% of the total volume of tourism activity, while inbound and domestic tourism accounted 13.7% and 16.3%, respectively.

In January-September 2025, the revenues of travel and tour operator agencies amounted to 4.2 billion MDL (10.3% more than in January-September 2024), of which: from inbound tourism - 64.4 million MDL (+33.3%), from outbound tourism - 4.0 billion MDL (+10.0%), from domestic tourism - 167.1 million MDL (+9.6%).
