Background
Tempe's Special Events and Parks and Recreation codes, established in 1967, have seen minor revisions since then, but need to be updated to reflect changes in the city's growth, the size and variety of special events, and the wide-ranging uses of city parks. Increased demand for our public spaces means clearer, more flexible and equitable standards and guidelines are needed. An updated code will help us ensure parks and special events remain accessible, enjoyable, and well-managed for everyone.
