Vice President for University Advancement Pat Vickerman has named Jillian Nelson the inaugural Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Donor Engagement, effective September 1, 2026.

The creation of this new leadership position represents an important step in the division's continued evolution as an integrated organization. By bringing alumni engagement, annual giving, and donor stewardship under unified leadership, Illinois State University will connect constituent experiences more intentionally, deepen relationships, and build a stronger pipeline of lifelong engagement and philanthropic support.

Nelson brings broad advancement expertise and a proven track record of elevating programs, producing strategic results, and leading high-performing teams. Her background encompasses donor relations, annual and major giving, corporate engagement, and comprehensive campaign planning.

A member of the University Advancement team since 2014, Nelson most recently served as senior managing director for donor engagement and campaign communications. Before joining Illinois State, she held key advancement roles at Bradley University and James Madison University.

In her new role, Nelson will work closely with colleagues across University Advancement and the broader campus community to build on existing momentum, strengthen strategic relationships, and maximize the collective impact of Illinois State's alumni and donor initiatives.
