Türkiye: Oilseeds and Products Semi-Annual

Türkiye's sunflower seed crop for the 2026/27 marketing year is expected to be better than last year's, due in part to favorable weather conditions and an increase of approximately 100,000 metric tons in confectionery seed production. However, as of August 2026, the near-standstill of cargo traffic in Black Sea trade has restricted Türkiye's access to crude sunflower oil imports. To compensate, Türkiye will likely import more sunflower seeds from other suppliers to meet its domestic consumption shortfall and for export purposes. As in previous years, the Turkish government is working to stabilize price fluctuations in the domestic market through changes in tariffs and import quotas.
