Gas prices in most Southern California areas continued upward for the fourth straight week, according to the Auto Club's Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.41, which is three cents higher than a week ago and 14 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.10, which is four cents higher than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.47 per gallon, which is two cents more than last week and 14 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.52, which is one cent more than last week and 11 cents lower than this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.46, which is five cents higher than last week and 16 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.34, which is two cents higher than last week and 11 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.29 average price is three cents more than last week and 35 cents lower than a year ago today.
"This is typically the time of year when gasoline demand is at its lowest, but oil prices are at their highest level since August because of international supply issues and a low level of U.S. oil inventories," said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe.
