New FCC Licensing Framework Will Streamline Satellite and Earth Station Deployment, Says ITIF
Following the FCC's vote to modernize its satellite and earth station licensing rules at its July 22 Open Meeting, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) released the following statement from Policy Analyst Ellis Scherer:
"The FCC has taken a good first step toward streamlining satellite and earth satation deployment. The new rules standardize the Commission's license review process, making it more predictable and easier to navigate. The new framework should reduce unnecessary delays and help U.S. companies deploy space infrastructure more efficiently.The FCC should build on this new licensing framework by continuing to refine its rules to improve the process over time.
