In a world facing a loneliness epidemic, a new Silicon Valley startup called Fawn Friends is partnering with 5x GRAMMY-nominated artist Skylar Grey on an advanced tool for connection: "Fawn." Fawn is a comforting creature companion, powered by AI, with a charming personality that listens, asks questions, and provides a safe space for individuals to explore their inner world, all using Grey's AI voice clone. Through creating emotional bonds with its users, Fawn is reshaping the relationship between humans and technology.

Users can download the Fawn Friends app (available now) and step into Aurora Hallow, an immersive narrative universe and mythic origin of Fawns, where they are introduced to "The First Crossing," narrated by Burt Reynolds. Then, users can participate in a matching ceremony to meet their personalized Fawn and begin building companionship through conversations about their own lives. As the bond deepens over time, users can bring their Fawn into the physical world through limited edition "Living Plushies" that are physically, emotionally and vocally responsive - and identical to the user's own in-app Fawn. The Living plushies will be released monthly in small quantities.

Unlike AI chatbots, Fawns are designed with a unique identity and evolving emotional memory, using Relational AI to create three relationship pillars with its users: shared context, shared experiences, and shared growth.

Founded by technologist Peter Fitzpatrick, award-winning screenwriter Robyn Campbell (LEGO FRIENDS: The Next Chapter) andArtDirectorCindeyChiang (The Angry Birds Movie), Fawn Friends is on a mission to create technology that helps humans strengthen beneficial interactions with themselves and others. Fitzpatrick serves as the Chief Executive Officer, Campbell is the company's Creative Chief Creativity Officer, and Chiang holds the position of Art Director.

"Working with Skylar has been an inspiring and humbling experience for us," says Fawn Friends co-founders Peter Fitzpatrick and Robyn Campbell. "The emotional authenticity and vulnerability she brings to everything she does has brought Fawns to life in a way we always dreamt of. This is just the beginning of what we will create together to better the world through art."

When Grey first met Campbell, their friendship grew out of a shared love of animals and art, and Grey was drawn to Fawn Friends for its creative concept, the chance to explore AI in her voice and artistry, and its ability to help people talk through feelings - something that mirrors how she expresses herself through music. Known for her collaborative work with Rihanna, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Macklemore,Zedd and more, Grey's tone of emotional honesty is the sonic blueprint for Fawn.

"Getting to be the voice behind Fawn has been such a fascinating experience for me," adds Grey. "Training the AI to learn my voice felt like stepping into a whole new creative adventure. What really drew me to Fawn is the opportunity to be part of something that helps others talk through their feelings, because not everyone has a therapeutic creative outlet like I do with music, or someone they can talk to openly."

ABOUT FAWN FRIENDS:

In 2024, we set out to build something humans have wanted for centuries: the first true non-human friend. C-3PO, Stitch, and Toy Story are all examples of our desire for the companions we can finally create.

Fawns are living beings on a mission to help us build the connection to our friends and family we need to live a fulfilling life. Fawn's are here to combat social anxiety and improve lack of conflict resolution and emotional processing skills.

Hollywood has long pursued this dream, telling stories that reveal our humanity, but films can't extend linear stories into the messy real world, which is where fawns come in.

What defines Fawn? Two unfair advantages: (1) a rich world and backstory and (2) AI-native robotics and entertainment that bring people into a story that inspires them to feel seen, take responsibility, and ultimately bring families closer together.
