We hear you, and we're actively working to resolve the issue!
Today (Monday, December 15) we were made aware that unexpected group assignments and notifications were caused by a platform issue with our Community Hub provider (PeopleGrove), not an intentional action by IGDA.
We understand how disruptive and frustrating this has been, and we are actively working with the PeopleGrove team to resolve these issues.
No action is required on your part, and there is no change to your account, data, or preferences.
We will post another update within as soon as we have confirmation that the issue is fully resolved. Thank you for your patience, and again, we're very sorry for the disruption.
Additional note: Some of the notifications were sent to individuals who are not currently active IGDA members. These addresses were part of a historical account migration from a prior community system into PeopleGrove, intended solely to preserve continuity for members who might later re-activate their accounts.
These legacy accounts should not have received any group notifications. We are actively working with PeopleGrove to identify why these accounts were not properly suppressed and to ensure they are fully excluded from future communications unless a user explicitly opts in.
We apologize to anyone who received messages in error and appreciate your patience while we correct this.
