Assemblymember Celeste Rodriguez’s Statement on Unjust Events in Minnesota

For immediate release:
Tuesday, January 27, 2026

"We stand in solidarity with our neighbors in Minnesota and with immigrant families across this country who are living in constant fear because of the reckless and violent actions of this federal administration. What we are seeing - aggressive enforcement tactics that intimidate, terrorize, and have cost innocent people their lives - is tearing apart families, destroying trust in our communities, and dragging our country away from everything it claims to.

Immigrants are not political pawns simply to be used as talking points. They are human beings - parents, children, caregivers, neighbors - and the trauma being inflicted on them will scar generations. These policies don't make us safer. They destabilize communities, push people into the shadows, and accelerate the moral collapse of a nation that is supposed to be built on justice and dignity.

California will continue to choose a different path - one grounded in constitutional rights, public safety, and basic human decency. Families deserve to exercise their rights, to seek help without fear, and to live free from unlawful abuse. From California to Minnesota, we will not stay silent as our values erode. We stand united in defending our communities and the humanity at the heart of this country." - Celeste Rodriguez, 43rd District
