(October 29, 2026) WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) introduced the Library Construction and Modernization Act of 2026to create a new grant for library construction and rehabilitation.
"Libraries are important community resources. Libraries are much more than places to borrow books," said Congressman Kean. "They offer free access to computers, internet services, educational programs, job-search resources, and community events. That is why I introduced the Library Construction and Modernization Act of 2026 to create a new grant for library construction and rehabilitation."
Congressman Kean supports annual appropriations for the Institute of Museum and Library Services. In the Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations Process, he advocated for continued funding for the Library Services and Technology Act that provides grants to enable libraries to develop services in every community throughout the nation, including people of diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, residents of rural and urban areas, Native Americans, military families, veterans, and caregivers
