GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The Major General William Pendleton Thompson
(W.P.T.) Hill Awards for Food Service competition encourages
excellence in garrison and field food service. Reference (b)
provided the nomination and evaluation procedures for the Fiscal
Year 2025 awards program. The competitive spirit fostered by the
Major General W.P.T. Hill awards program contributes to improved
food service support and increased quality of life for our Marines
and Sailors. Commands participating in this year's competition and
Marines nominated for the Food Service Specialist of the Year Award
are commended for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to
excellence in supporting the Installations and Logistics (I&L)
mission.
2. The Commandant extends congratulations to the following winning
mess halls and field messes:
2.a. Best Management and Mess Attendant Mess Hall: Mess Hall 303,
Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Installations East.
2.b. Best Full Food Service Mess Hall: Mess Hall 3006, Marine Corps
Mountain Warfare Training Center, Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force
Training Command, Training and Education Command.
2.c. Best Active Field Mess: III Marine Expeditionary Force Support
Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, III
Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific.
2.d. Best Reserve Field Mess: Marine Wing Support Squadron 472,
Marine Aircraft Group 49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces
Reserves.
3. The Commandant extends congratulations to the recipients of the
Food Service Specialist of the Year Award. Their professionalism,
commitment to excellence, devotion to duty, and technical expertise
reflected great credit upon themselves, the Installations and
Logistics mission, the food service community, and made a lasting
contribution to the Marine Corps.
3.a. Active-duty Staff Non-Commissioned Officer winner:
3.a.1. Gunnery Sergeant Mikelot A. Edouard, Marine Corps Mountain
Warfare Training Center, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center,
Training and Education Command.
3.b. Active-duty Non-Commissioned Officer winner:
3.b.1. Sergeant Osiel M. Carrascorodiguez, Headquarters and Service
Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
3.c. Reserve Staff Non-Commissioned Officer winner:
3.c.1. Gunnery Sergeant Francisco Garciareyes, Food Service Company,
Combat Logistics Regiment 45, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine
Forces Reserve.
3.d. Reserve Non-Commissioned Officer winner:
3.d.1. Corporal Oscar Santosbrambilla, Headquarters and Support
Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group,
Marine Forces Reserve.
4. The winners will be recognized and presented their awards at the
National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF)
Military Food Service Awards Ceremony and Food Service Training
event in Chicago, Illinois. The inclusive dates for the ceremony
and training session are 15 through 18 May 2026. Travel dates will
be 14 and 19 May 2026.
4.a. DC I&L will fund the winners listed in paragraph 3 and two
representatives from the winning commands listed in paragraph 2.
The Government will not fund selected contractor representatives
from winning commands. Other representatives from the winning
commands are encouraged to attend at their command's expense.
4.b. Rental cars will not be funded for winners, public
transportation will be utilized to and from the airport.
4.c. COMMARFORRES will fund travel to the Food Service Awards
Ceremony for the Unit Mess Officer and Mess Manager of the first
place winning Reserve Field Mess travel to the annual conference
IAW reference B.
5. All attendees are required to be present for The Food Service
Awards Ceremony and Food Service Training. Agendas, uniform
requirements, and registrations are as follows:
5.a. Day One, 15 May 2026. All attendees will wear Service "C"
(Tanker jacket is authorized). The morning will consist of classroom
training provided by NRAEF, all meals are provided by NRAEF.
The afternoon will consist of Awards Ceremony rehearsals for winners
listed in paragraph 2 and the awards presentation to Food Service of
the Year winners listed in paragraph 3. The evening will consist of
the Military Food Service Awards Ceremony. All attendees for the
Awards Ceremony will wear Dress Blue "A" with white trousers for
SNCOs and Officers. Contact POC 3 for Awards Ceremony registration
requirements and code. Final day for registration is 1 May 2026.
5.b. Day Two, 16 May 2026. All attendees will wear Service "C"
(Tanker jacket is authorized). All attendees will attend the
National Restaurant Association (NRA) Food Show. Registration is
required at https://www.nationalrestaurantshow.com/registration.
Contact POC 3 for registration code. Final day for registration is
1 May 2026.
5.c. Day Three, 17 May 2026. All attendees will wear Service "C"
(Tanker jacket is authorized). The morning will consist of classroom
training provided by NRAEF, breakfast will provided by NRAEF. The
afternoon will consist of attending the NRA Food Show.
5.d. Day Four, 18 May 2026. Attendees listed in paragraph 2.a.
through 2.c. will attend Society for Hospitality and Foodservice
Management (SHFM) Breakfast and Awards Ceremony. All other attendees
will attend the NRA Food Show and will wear Service "C" (Tanker
jacket is authorized).
5.e. Coordinate with POC 2 for all lodging. Final day to confirm
lodging reservations is 6 May 2026.
