"I'm very proud to have Evan punch his ticket to nationals," said Monmouth Head Coach . "He has overcome a lot of adversity the past few years with injuries, and it's great to see him fully recovered and back competing with the best throwers in the country!"

Niedrowski earned gold at last weekend's CAA Championships in Elon, N.C., setting a new event record in the javelin throw with a 71.87m mark, good for the 22nd best score in NCAA DI this season.

This will be the second straight year the Hawks will have representation in Eugene, after Yasmeen Tinsley earned Second-Team All-American honors last year and competed at the national event in the 400-meter hurdles.

More Monmouth athletes will have the opportunity to join Niedrowski in Oregon, as freshmen and Maggie Hansen are set to compete in Lexington later this week. Nelson will participate in the men's high jump at 2 p.m. on Friday, while Hansen will take part in the women's discus competition, slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.
