March is National Multiple Sclerosis Education and Awareness Month. It's a time to empower, educate, and unite everyone affected by MS. If you live with MS, care for someone with it, or want to support those affected, this month is a chance to learn, connect, and take action together.
Multiple sclerosis affects nearly 1 million people in the United States alone and millions more around the world. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is often an "invisible" disease. This means many people don't see the struggles of those living with MS. As a result, their challenges are often misunderstood or ignored.
National MS Education and Awareness Month started in 2003. The National Multiple Sclerosis Societycreated it to empower, educate, and unite the MS community. It helps people understand an often invisible illness. It also gathers funding for important research. Plus, it works to lessen the isolation that many newly diagnosed individuals feel.
Awareness plays a key role in MS funding and research. The NMSS is the biggest private funder of MS research globally. They have committed over $1 billion to this cause. Each year, they invest about $30 million in more than 200 active studies around the world. That investment is creating real momentum. As research speeds up and new tools appear, MS Awareness Month reminds us of our progress. It shows how much we've built and how far we can still go together.
Whether or not MS has touched your life directly, there are meaningful ways to show up for the community this month. Top MS advocacy groups, like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the MS Association of America, and the MS Foundation, provide easy ways to get involved:
Cionic proudly partners with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's MS Navigator program. This program helps people access MS care and find the resources they need.
The Cionic community consists of people living with a variety of neurological disorders. Their stories show the diverse experiences of life with MS and the resilience of those who face it.
Kathy Chester joins the CIONIC Podcast to journey with multiple sclerosis and her inspiring work with MS Disrupted program.
Jason, living with MS, finds small wins add up. The Neural Sleeve 2 helps him walk farther, ease spasticity, and sleep better.
Wearable neurotechnology, physical therapy, and MS community support are improving. People with MS now have more tools than ever. These advances help people manage their symptoms more easily. They also allow for greater independence.
Taking proactive steps, managing your gait, and reducing spasticity can help you enjoy life with MS. These actions make it easier to do what you love. The Cionic Neural Sleeve is designed to adapt to your exact muscle stimulation needs, rather than providing a one-size-fits-all solution.
Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month is a reminder: this community is not walking this journey alone. By raising our voices, supporting one another, and embracing new innovations, the MS community continues to redefine what is possible.
