BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Department of Theatre and Film will hold its 2026 BG Film and Media Festival from Friday, April 10, to Sunday, April 12, on the second floor of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, featuring creative works by students and regional filmmakers.
Presented by student organization BG Reel, the free three-day public juried festival will include short film screenings, panel discussions, workshops and awards.
This year's festival will open with a curated screening of short films at 6 p.m. on Friday in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Film Theater. Screenings of student and regional filmmaker-produced films spanning various genres will continue daily through Sunday, starting at 6 p.m.
An appreciation panel on independent films led by BGSU students is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday in Room 207, followed by staged readings at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, a workshop on studio lighting techniques for narrative and commercial film productions is set for 1 p.m. in the Eva Marie Saint Theatre at the Wolfe Center for the Arts.
The weekend will close with festival awards at 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Film Theater. Awards will include "Best in Show" as well as multiple genre, performance and technical awards.
