Joint Statement from America's Democratic Women Governors on the Attacks Against Dr. Amy Acton
Today, DGA Vice Chair Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Women Governors Fund Chair Governor Maura Healey, Governor Katie Hobbs, Governor Kathy Hochul, Governor Laura Kelly, Governor Tina Kotek, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Governor Janet Mills, Governor Mikie Sherrill, and Governor Abigail Spanberger released the following statement:
"We condemn Vivek Ramaswamy's decision to weaponize the horrific abuse and sexual assault that Dr. Amy Acton experienced as a child at the hands of her stepfather. No one should go through what Dr. Acton did, and Ramaswamy's cheap shot isn't just an insult to survivors everywhere - it's downright disqualifying.
"At a moment when Ohioans are struggling under a cost of living crisis and paying the price for a decade of one-party rule in their government, they deserve a governor who will rise above petty, personal politics and bring people together to make life better - not someone whose judgment and moral compass are so off that they would stoop this low.
"Dr. Acton has a proven record of serving with integrity, and she will never forget who she is fighting for. As the chief executives of our respective states, we have no doubt: Dr. Acton is ready to lead Ohio with dignity and compassion, and Vivek Ramaswamy is an out-of-touch con man who doesn't belong anywhere near the governor's office."We look forward to welcoming Dr. Acton and working with her as another great Democratic woman governor."
