Creative Greensboro and the Greensboro Cultural Center's art galleries will present special programming in celebration of Black History Month during First Friday from 6-9 pm on Friday, February 6.
All Creative Greensboro First Friday events take place in the second floor atrium of the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St.
The evening will include a vendor fair featuring Black artists and Black-owned businesses offering gifts, artwork, and food. Tumaini Johnson, aka TJ the DJ, will provide music highlighting genres central to Black history, including blues, soul, gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. In the GreenHill gallery, Kay Marion and the Neo Symphony will perform a live musical set. The Center for Visual Artists will host an Art Battle in their gallery, facilitated by Emilio Marz. The African American Atelier will mark the opening of its Founding Members Exhibition. In addition, students from Greensboro Day School's Chinese Club have curated an art display celebrating Lunar New Year.
