WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Trump has delivered another win for American workers and farmers thanks to a new trade deal with Indonesia that was formerly announced today in a joint statement on the framework for a reciprocal trade agreement. This agreement follows a period over the past four years where the United States went from a $450 million agricultural trade surplus to a $1.1 billion deficit with Indonesia. The new trade deal reverses that trend by boosting American farmers, manufacturers, and innovators while increasing access to critical minerals.
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) said:
"President Trump's aggressive trade strategy is restoring balance and fairness for America's farmers, manufacturers, and innovators, and this new deal with Indonesia is another big win. Indonesia's commitment to pull down barriers to our agricultural products, to eliminate red tape on our automobile exports, and expand access to critical minerals, is a direct result of President Trump delivering on his promise to put America first. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress and the Trump Administration to keep this momentum going."
