Bacon Appointed Director of Nursing at Trevecca

Trevecca has announced the promotion of Dr. Penny Bacon to serve as director of nursing.
She has served at Trevecca since 2023, beginning as a nursing professor and later becoming associate director.
"Dr. Bacon has been instrumental in the success of our traditional undergraduate program and has played a significant role in our accreditation efforts," said Provost Dr. Tom Middendorf. "Her experience, leadership and commitment to excellence position her well to lead the next chapter of Trevecca Nursing."
Bacon earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Oregon Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in nursing from Samuel Merritt University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Western University of Health Sciences.
She brings decades of experience in nursing practice and education to the role. Before joining Trevecca, Bacon spent 10 years on the nursing faculty at Biola University and previously worked in clinical research, critical care and nursing education. Her scholarly work also includes peer-reviewed research, professional presentations and a published devotional for nurses.
"Beyond that skill set, it's her compassionate spirit and strong faith that tend to stand out above all else," Middendorf said. "That's an extremely fitting combination for the leader of a discipline so rooted in service at Trevecca."
