Anchorage, Alaska - Max Helgeson scored one goal and one assist for the University of Alaska Anchorage in a 3-3 tie with the University of Alaska Fairbanks in game three of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Saturday.
Max Helgeson and Ryan Johnson both scored to give the Seawolves the shootout win. UAA leads the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series 2-1.
Max Helgeson found Ryan Johnson who scored his 10th goal of the season at 4:26 of the first period.
Matt Hubbard tied the game with a goal for the Nanooks at 16:50.
Max Helgeson collected his second point of the game by scoring off the rebound for the only goal of the second period at 15:20.
Dimitry Kebreau ripped a shot on the powerplay for his sixth goal of the season at 12:15 of the third to give UAA a 3-1 lead.
Kyle Gaffney scored a 6-on-4 goal at 16:06, and Matt Hubbard scored during a flurry of action in front of the goal with nine seconds remaining to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime.
Neither team scored in the five minutes of extra time, but the Seawolves won the shootout 2-1.
UAF finished with a 23-14 edge in shots, and both teams scored once on the powerplay.
Tyler Krivtsov made 20 saves for UAA.
The Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series will move to Fairbanks with the first of three games Jan. 31.
