FLOODS & DROUGHTS - Generative AI for managing floods, droughts and water-related risks

FLOODS & DROUGHTS will develop and test trustworthy GenAI solutions to help public authorities better anticipate, manage and communicate floods, droughts and other water-related risks.

The initiative brings together public administrations and technical organisations from Italy, Spain, France and Greece. By integrating environmental data, forecasts, monitoring systems and operational information, the project will transform complex data into clearer warnings, practical recommendations and accessible information for citizens and operational users, including civil protection authorities, emergency managers and technical staff.

Common GenAI solutions will be jointly developed by the consortium and tested across the participating territories, alongside tailored applications addressing specific regional needs and use cases.

Background

Selected under the Digital Europe Programme call GenAI for the public administrations, FLOODS & DROUGHTS will pilot trustworthy European GenAI solutions addressing concrete needs of public authorities and citizens. The project also contributes to the objectives of the Apply AI Strategy, which aims to accelerate the responsible adoption of AI across strategic sectors, including the public sector.
