Scott Balfour, chair of Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas, has announced the appointment of Syd Kitson to the Boards of Directors of both companies, effective today.
Kitson is the chairman and chief executive officer of Kitson & Partners, a Palm Beach Gardens-based real estate company recognized for creating innovative, sustainable communities, including Babcock Ranch, the nation's first solar-powered town supported by natural gas for additional resilience and efficiency. He brings decades of leadership experience - from large-scale community development to public-sector board service - with previous experience chairing the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Council of 100 and the State University System of Florida. Kitson holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2025. Before his real estate career, he played in the National Football League.

Tampa Electric, one of Florida's largest investor-owned electric utilities, serves about 870,000 customers in West Central Florida.
