Visit Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site for torchlight Halloween and wiener roast Oct. 25

SPRINGFIELD - Visitors are invited to stroll along illuminated paths between the historic farms and enjoy a night by the fire at the Torchlight Halloween Hike and wiener roast at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site in Coles County on Saturday, Oct. 25.

This family-friendly event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be music, storytelling, bonfires and a wiener roast near the visitor center. Volunteers from the Lincoln Log Cabin Foundation will sell cider, hotdogs, and s'mores ingredients for visitors to roast over the fire. Proceeds benefit educational and interpretive programs at the site.

Some stories in the Lincoln Cabin are spooky but are child friendly. Volunteers in historic clothing and friendly ghost makeup will walk along the paths to interact with guests. The torchlit hike covers mixed terrain; guests are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and seasonal outerwear. The event is rain or shine.
