On January 12, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The two sides exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.
Ambassador Jia stated that China firmly upholds the international multilateral system on intellectual property and supports WIPO in playing a leading role in global IP governance. He noted that China is actively implementing its 15th Five-Year Plan, with a strong focus on high-quality development and high-level opening-up, which presents new opportunities for enhanced cooperation with WIPO. China stands ready to expand and deepen pragmatic cooperation with the Organization and contribute to global innovation and development.
Director General Daren Tang welcomed Ambassador Jia's assumption of office and commended China's long-standing contributions to WIPO's development. He emphasized that WIPO attaches great importance to its cooperation with China. China's remarkable achievements in innovation serve as a valuable reference for developing countries. WIPO will continue to adhere to a results-oriented approach, promoting global solidarity and social progress through strengthened IP protection and development.
