USDA Rural Development Showcases Trump Administration Investments Driving Rural Homeownership in Riverside and Imperial County

(Coachella, Calif., July 22, 2026) -U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development California State Director Bryan Anguiano visited the Coachella Valley this week to meet with leaders from the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition and discuss ongoing collaborations that expand homeownership opportunities for families across the region. The visit underscores USDA Rural Development's commitment to supporting local partners who help Californians achieve the American dream of owning a home.

During the meeting, Anguiano highlighted USDA Rural Development's continued investments through the Single Family Housing Direct Home Loans program, also known as the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, which provides affordable financing to low-income and first-time homebuyers in rural communities and plays a crucial role in helping California families secure safe, quality housing, while strengthening the economic vitality of communities throughout Imperial and Riverside County and beyond.

"Through our partnership with the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition and our continued investment in programs like the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, USDA Rural Development is helping families reach the American dream of homeownership," said Anguiano. "In the last 10 years, USDA Rural Development has proudly invested $418.7 million in Riverside and the Imperial County through the Single Family Housing program, a reflection of our commitment to building stronger, more resilient rural communities, expanding opportunity, and ensuring families have access to safe and affordable housing that allows them to thrive."

The visit highlights USDA Rural Development's ongoing efforts to expand housing opportunities and invest in the future of rural California under the Trump Administration. During the meeting, Anguiano met with organizational leaders to discuss new housing developments in Brawley and Salton City and expressed his appreciation for the strong partnership between USDA Rural Development and community-based housing organizations like the Coachella Housing Coalition.

The Section 502 Direct Loan Program remains a cornerstone of this mission, helping thousands of families each year move from renting to owning, building generational stability and long-term economic mobility. USDA Rural Development invests in rural America through programs that promote prosperity by expanding access to housing, high-speed internet, infrastructure, and essential community services.
