LINCOLN, NEB. - In response to thedevastating wildfires, Nebraska Farm Bureau has activated its Disaster ReliefFund to support farm and ranch families and communities impacted across thestate. The wildfires, including one of the largest in Nebraska's history, havecaused widespread damage, leaving many families facing significant loss and along road to recovery.
"The impact of these wildfires isheartbreaking for so many Nebraska families and communities," said MarkMcHargue, president of Nebraska Farm Bureau. "This fund allows us to cometogether and support our neighbors as they begin to rebuild."
Initial funding will focus on urgentneeds such as feed, hay, and fencing replacement. Efforts will remain flexibleas additional needs emerge. Every dollar donated will go directly towardaddressing wildfire impacts and supporting those affected.
"An immediate concern is the loss ofgrazing land, leaving thousands of cattle displaced and in need of supplementalfeed. At the same time, we know that Nebraskans will step up, as they alwaysdo, to support one another at times like this. Farm and ranch families areresilient, and with strong community support, they will work through thechallenges ahead," McHargue said.
To provide donors with a tax-deductiblegiving option, contributions will be administered through the Nebraska FarmBureau Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization. Noadministration fee is charged, and 100% of donations will support thoseaffected. Individuals and organizations interested in contributing to reliefefforts can donate by visiting: https://www.nefb.org/disaster. Checks should be made payable toNebraska Farm Bureau Foundation with "Disaster Relief" noted in the memo line.
