Virginia man pleads guilty to illegal possession of a firearm by a felon (DOJ)

WASHINGTON - Arnold Kevin Dussol, 39, of Leesburg, Virginia, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in connection with unlawfully possessing a loaded firearm while hiding in a Northwest storage facility, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Dussol pleaded guilty before Judge Amy Berman Jackson to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Judge Berman Jackson scheduled sentencing for February 19, 2027.

According to the government's evidence, on March 30, 2026, law enforcement responded to reports from a victim stating that Dussol had threatened to kill her current boyfriend and that he possessed a firearm. Officers used location information and access instructions Dussol had sent the victim to locate a secure storage facility on 7th Street NW.

Inside the storage area, officers found Dussol hiding behind the door of an unlocked locker. He was dressed in all black and wearing a purple satchel consistent with the victim's description.

Inside that satchel, investigators recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine. A subsequent search revealed a small bag containing a white rock substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Dussol has multiple prior felony convictions, including extortion, felony weapon possession, first-degree assault, and felony drug distribution, and therefore was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition at the time of his arrest.

This case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department with valuable assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Office.

The matter was prosecuted under the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful initiative by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Josh Satter and Lauren Ibanez.

Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful supports President Trump's Executive Order that cracks down on gun violence, prioritizes federal firearms violations, pursues tougher penalties, and seeks detention for federal firearms violators.
