Lithuania and North Macedonia strengthen cooperation on the digital agenda

On 18 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys met with Stefan Andonovski, Minister of Digital Transformation of North Macedonia.

Budrys welcomed the intensification of bilateral relations, which will be further strengthened by the Government of North Macedonia's decision to open an embassy in Vilnius. According to the Lithuanian minister, this important step will open up new opportunities for closer cooperation on political, economic, security, and digital agenda issues between the two countries.

Lithuania welcomed North Macedonia's accession to the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law. The visit also discussed opportunities to develop partnerships in the areas of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and highlighted the importance of digital issues in Lithuania's preparations for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027.
