FEMA Announces Additional $19 Million for Kentucky Recovery

ATLANTA -FEMA approved more than $19 million in funding to support 22 recovery and mitigation projects in Kentucky communities affected by disasters.

Notable recovery projects FEMA will fund include:

  • $14 million to the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management for state management costs related to the multiple 2025 severe storms and COVID-19.
  • $1.9 million to the Kentucky Department of Transportation for debris removal, road and bridge repair, and emergency protective measures taken in response to February, April and May 2025 severe storms, flooding and tornadoes.
  • $557,000 to the Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District for emergency protective measures taken in response to April 2025 severe storms and flooding.
  • $464,000 to Union County for road and bridge repair following April 2025 severe storms and flooding.
  • $458,000 to the Frankfort Housing Authority for emergency protective measures taken in response to April 2025 severe storms and flooding.
  • $412,000 to Gallatin County for road and bridge repair following April 2025 severe storms and flooding.
  • $308,000 to South Kentucky Rural Electric to fund building and equipment repair following May 2025 severe storms and tornadoes.

FEMA is reimbursing these recovery costs at no less than a 75% federal cost share through its Public Assistance program, which provides funds for state and local governments' response and recovery work.

Additionally, FEMA approved $579,000 to fund the Pike County Island Creek cemetery project for landslide and soil stabilization following severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides February 27 - March 14, 2021. FEMA is funding this project at a 75% federal cost share through its Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
