GW Alumna Selected for Prestigious East-West Dialogue Fellowship

Clara Sherwood joins an international exchange program designed to strengthen relationships between future leaders in the Arab world and the West.

Maria Clara Sherwood, M.A. '25, was selected as one of eight Americans to participate in the East-West: The Art of Dialogue initiative, a prestigious exchange program launched by the Shafik Gabr Foundation. The program fosters cross-cultural understanding and constructive dialogue between emerging leaders from the Arab world and Western countries.

Sherwood, who earned her master's degree from the Elliott School of International Affairs in 2025, is now a program analyst at the U.S. Department of Energy. She previously worked at the U.S. Department of State and has been recognized as a 2025 CSIS Project on Nuclear Issues Scholar, a Fulbright Scholar in Morocco and a two-time recipient of the State Department's Critical Language Scholarship in Arabic.
