Walberg Announces 2026 Congressional Art Competition for America 250

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) is seeking submissions from high school students in the 5th Congressional District for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. In recognition of our nation's Semiquincentennial, the Congressman has announced that this year's theme will be "America 250."

The winning piece of artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol, along with the winners from the other congressional districts across the country.

"As the United States commemorates 250 years since its founding, this year's Congressional Art Competition provides talented young artists in Michigan's 5th District with a great opportunity to reflect on our country's rich and storied history," said Rep Walberg. "I look forward to seeing the creativity displayed by students in this year's competition and wish all those who plan on participating the best of luck."

Guidelines:

On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This year, Congressman Walberg is asking artists to reflect on our nation's history and what "America 250" means to them - from historic moments and uniquely American symbolism to shared values and ideals. All submissions must fit within the artist's interpretation of the theme.

Entries should be photographed and emailed with a typed copy of the 2026 Student Release form to [email protected] by midnight on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The artwork size should not exceed 26" high x 26" wide x 4" deep, including the frame. For more information on the exact guidelines for artwork submissions and a link to the 2026 Student Release form, please visit walberg.house.gov/services/art-competition or call 517-780-9075.
